This year, Heart Yorkshire is going BIG for Make Some Noise.

Breakfast show presenter, Emma Lenney, will paddle and pedal the width of the country, 163 miles, from Liverpool to Goole in just five days as part of 'Heart's Coast to Coast Challenge' sponsored by BOXT.co.uk.

With a support team on location and a kayaking expert to guide Emma through the currents, Dixie and Rich Williams will dedicate live links throughout their shows to catch up with Emma on her voyage.

Make Some Noise gives a voice to brilliant small charities who otherwise would not get heard. Throughout the country there are hundreds of incredible small charities supporting children and young people who suffer from illness, disability or lack of opportunity, small charities desperately need our support.  Charities like ‘The Child Brain Injury Trust’ which runs out of both Leeds and Sheffield Children’s Hospitals, ‘The Lily Foundation’ who support families of children across Yorkshire and Young Adult Carers, some of whom Dixie and Emma  went to meet at Carer’s Leeds. It was very emotional hearing their stories.

This year, as part of Make Some Noise, Heart Yorkshire are supporting 'Carers Leeds', a charity that helps unpaid carers. A carer is someone who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without their help due to living with dementia, illness, disability, mental health issues or a problem with drugs or alcohol. They work across the city and offer information, advice and support. They also provide opportunities for carers to meet up and socialise. Carers Leeds run a project for carers aged 16-25 who face many difficult issues as a result of their caring role. Young adult carers often feel socially isolated, may not be in education, employment or training and the challenges of caring often impact on their mental health.

Emma Lenney, Heart Yorkshire Breakfast presenter said, "I've never done anything like this before and, whilst I'm scared to death, I'm also excited. It was a privilege to meet such inspirational young adult carers who work so hard with little or no reward. They will be in the front of my mind when I'm trying to complete this epic challenge.

Money from Make Some Noise will go towards helping and supporting young adult carers, often with things that most people their age take for granted.
